Waiting Parents
Joe & Laurie .. waiting in Massachusetts
Dear Expectant Mother,
We would like to take a moment to thank you for taking the time to read our profile and for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. Although we can only imagine how difficult it is to make an adoption plan for your child, we know it is one made out of love. Our greatest dream has been to have children and we sincerely appreciate the strength and unselfish love you have shown by deciding to place your child in an adoptive family. It is through your unselfish decision that we, or another couple like us, will be able to experience parenthood. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Our names are Laurie and Joe and here is a little peek about us that we hope will give you a better understanding of who we are.
We met a little over 16 years ago and have been happily married for 13 years. Friends of ours introduced us and we have been the best of friends ever since. Joe is a social studies teacher and Laurie works at an area college. We live in a Cape style house with our dog (a black lab) in a neighborhood filled with lots of children. We can offer a child a safe and secure home filled with laughter, but most importantly endless love and support.
Adoption is already a part of our family – Laurie’s younger brother was adopted. “One of my fondest memories from childhood was when my parent’s took care of foster children; my mother would take turns and wake my older brother and me up in the morning by placing a baby next to us in our beds. The gentle cooing and movement of these little babies would surely wake us up with big smiles on our faces. There were 7 foster children that my parent’s took care of over time. The seventh baby became my younger brother. He came into our family right from the hospital when he was 5 days old and has been a member of our family ever since.”
We have always wanted to have children of our own, and after years of trying to start a family and after many miscarriages - we are hopeful to finally have a child through adoption. We recognize that giving your baby to an adoptive couple is the hardest decision you will ever have to make in your life and we are so grateful and thankful to you.
Family is extremely important to us. We are very fortunate to have our immediate families and some extended family nearby. Both of us are god-parents to several nieces, nephews, cousins and some best friend’s children. Between the two of us, we have 8 god-children. Even though we haven’t been able to have our own children, we are very thankful for the kids that have been in our lives.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and please know that we will care, nurture, provide all that we can, and most importantly … love your child as we would any child of our own. You have our deepest respect and gratitude.
Joe and Laurie
